Graced by Designer: The Premier UK YSL exhibition

This year the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition has come to the United Kingdom for the very first time. We bring you all you need to know – high fashion-lovers, listen up…

Inspired by the designer’s famously iconic quote, ‘Fashion fades, style is eternal’, the exhibition is titled ‘Style is Eternal’.

The exhibition celebrates and showcases some of the works of Yves Saint Laurent himself, including iconic pieces such as the wool crepe Mondrian dress collection and the Tuxedo. It also explores the prominent themes and styles that have resonated from YSL designs throughout the years. The exhibition is a commemoration to Yves, who died in 2008, on behalf of his long term business and life partner, Pierre Bergé.

The exhibition began on 11th July, and comes to an end on 25th October 2015.

It is located at the striking Bowes Museum in Durham, North East England.

About the brand

Established by Yves Saint Laurent in 1961, the eponymous brand is famous for promoting women’s empowerment: many pieces have been inspired by typical male dress codes which have been adapted to cater for women’s femininity. Stars including Sienna Miller, Claudia Schiffer and Gwyneth Paltrow, amongst countless others, have all worn YSL garments on the red carpet. Alongside female clothing, the brand also creates beauty products, as well as a range of garments for men.
